A new EA FC 26 Update Announced ... Again

June 02, 2026 · 👁1

Guess what? Yes… Here we go again. EA has announced yet another update for FC 26. At this point, it almost feels less like a football game cycle and more like a live experiment in how many times you can change the rules before everyone just accepts chaos as the default state.

EA Sports states that patch 1.6.1 only addresses various stability issues that could have occurred — nothing more than that. For the modding community, this kind of update frequency is a serious problem, because in the case of mods that go beyond simple faces or kits, these updates can completely break their structure and force authors to release updated versions of their mods.

👎Guess who pays the price again? Mods

The difference between EA FC 25 and EA FC 26 becomes especially clear when you look at update frequency over the same period of time. By this point in their respective cycles (roughly the same post-launch window), EA FC 25 had received an estimated 6–8 Title Updates, following a relatively measured pace with longer stability gaps between patches. EA FC 26, in contrast, is already estimated to be around 10–12 Title Updates in the same timeframe, with noticeably shorter intervals between gameplay changes.

In terms of version progression, FC 25 at this stage was still in the early 1.0.x to low 1.1.x range, with incremental fixes and occasional gameplay tuning. FC 26, meanwhile, has already moved deeper into the 1.5.x–1.6.x range, reflecting a much more aggressive and continuous update cadence.

At this point, the pattern almost writes itself: frequent updates are no longer a sign of refinement, but rather a subtle (and not-so-subtle) indicator that the game is still trying to figure out what it wants to be 🧩. Each patch feels less like “polish” and more like another attempt to stabilize a moving target that refuses to stand still.

Mods that once lasted weeks of stability are now often measured in days. Each update can break compatibility, shift gameplay logic, or force immediate rework, turning modding into a continuous maintenance cycle rather than a creative one 🔧.

In short, FC 25 gave modders a game to build on. FC 26 gives them a game they constantly have to chase — and occasionally repair before they can even start chasing it again 😅.
