EA FC 27 Producer Reveals Major Authentic Gameplay Improvements

August 26, 2026

EA Sports FC 27 is making a major push toward a more realistic football experience, with gameplay producer Bogdan detailing several improvements coming to Authentic Gameplay in a new interview conducted by Monsieur Quinton

A More Grounded Gameplay Experience

One of the team's biggest priorities is giving players greater weight, momentum and physical presence. Certain animations will now play for longer, meaning actions such as sharp turns can take more time to complete. Bogdan also highlighted improved sprint animations. In FC 26, defenders chasing attackers could appear as if they were not sprinting despite having the correct speed. EA says FC 27 now provides much greater visual urgency in these situations.

More Physicality and Smarter CPU Teams

Responding to community feedback, EA is also increasing physical interactions while expanding CPU behavior. New sliders allow players to significantly alter how opponents approach matches, including defensive aggression and sliding tackle frequency. The aim is for matches to feel less predictable. A team should behave differently depending on its identity, tactics, and the match situation rather than following the same patterns every game.

More Control Over Gameplay

FC 27 introduces more than 20 new gameplay sliders, giving players greater control over the Authentic experience. Shooting settings, for example, can now be adjusted separately for different shot types, including finesse, power and low-driven shots. Bogdan says the development team also monitors how the community uses these settings, with player-created configurations helping influence future gameplay decisions.

A Long-Term Vision for Realistic Football

EA's ambitions go beyond simply making FC 27 slower. Bogdan wants Authentic Gameplay to eventually reproduce the way real teams and individual players behave, with unique tactical identities and player-specific tendencies. He also dismissed the idea that Frostbite is preventing the team from achieving this vision, saying the technology continues to provide new opportunities. The bigger challenge is deciding what can be implemented within the game's annual development cycle.
