FC 27 PlayStyles Rebalanced: Key Changes

July 29, 2026

EA Sports has rebalanced several PlayStyles in FC 27, reducing the gap between PlayStyles, PlayStyle+, and core player attributes. The overall goal is to make player ratings and user skill more important while keeping PlayStyles impactful without being overpowered.

EA SPORTS FC 27 PlayStyles

  •  Finesse Shot: Player attributes now have a greater impact on shot quality. Spin, animation speed, and effectiveness from difficult angles scale more naturally based on the shooter's ratings, reducing the gap between base attributes, Finesse Shot, and Finesse Shot+.

  •  Technical Dribbler: The performance difference between PlayStyle and PlayStyle+ has been reduced. PlayStyle+ still provides smoother, more responsive dribbling, but the gap is now much smaller.

  •  Intercept: Players with high interception attributes receive increased reach and improved ball retention after interceptions, even without the PlayStyle, making defensive attributes more valuable.

  •  Rapid: The dribbling animation speed boost provided by Rapid and Rapid+ has been slightly reduced, bringing them closer to players without the PlayStyle.

  •  Quick Step: The speed boost while accelerating and dribbling has been reduced for both PlayStyle versions, placing greater emphasis on the Acceleration attribute.

  •  Pinged Pass: The bonus that reduced first-touch errors for the pass receiver has been removed. The PlayStyle now focuses solely on improving pass delivery.

  •  Tiki Taka: Animation speed boosts and first-touch assistance have been removed, refocusing the PlayStyle on quick passing combinations rather than improving ball control.

  •  Jockey: Players without the PlayStyle now accelerate faster while jockeying, while the acceleration boost when exiting jockey has been reduced for both PlayStyle and PlayStyle+.

  •  Precision Header: The accuracy difference between PlayStyle and PlayStyle+ has been reduced for better balance.

  •  Low Driven Shot: The previous shot speed boost has been removed. Shot velocity now depends entirely on shooting attributes and input power, while the PlayStyle continues to improve accuracy.

Focus on Skill and Player Ratings

These changes are part of FC 27's broader gameplay philosophy of giving players more control over every match. EA Sports wants defending, passing, dribbling, and finishing to rely more on manual skill and player attributes rather than the strength of individual PlayStyles. Whether making a perfectly timed tackle, creating space with intelligent movement, or scoring with a powerful header, the outcome should be determined more by player ability on the pitch and less by gameplay automation.
