EA Sports has revealed the first gameplay changes coming to EA SPORTS FC 27, with Title Update v1.2.0 scheduled for mid-November. The update will address several issues affecting matches, including fullback positioning, attacking runs, kickoff goals, and automatic player switching.
⚽︎ First Gameplay Changes Coming to FC 27
EA has identified several situations where small adjustments could make a noticeable difference during matches. The upcoming update will focus on the following areas:
- ✅ Fullback positioning: Fullbacks will hold their defensive line more consistently instead of dropping too deep, a behavior that can leave opposing attackers onside. They will still track runs when a genuine attacking threat develops.
- ✅ Offside awareness: Attackers will be better at recognizing the defensive line and timing their runs to avoid being caught offside.
- ✅ Attacking AI: AI-controlled attackers will make more purposeful supporting runs and do a better job of using available space around the penalty area.
- ✅ Kickoff goals: Defensive lines will hold a higher position after kickoffs, making it harder for opponents to run straight toward goal without facing defensive pressure.
- ✅ Automatic player switching: EA has made targeted fixes to improve player selection after a teammate completes a slide tackle, following a headed pass, and after a shot misses the target.
These changes target specific gameplay situations rather than overhauling the overall experience. EA also stressed that football gameplay involves several interacting systems, so occasional unexpected outcomes may still occur.
📝How Players Have Adapted Since Launch
EA's analysis of the first month has revealed some changes in how people approach matches in FC 27. Players are taking fewer shots but scoring more of the chances they create, while passing accuracy has improved despite a slight reduction in the total number of passes. Manual defending is also becoming more effective, with successful tackles increasing as players get used to the game's defensive mechanics. At the same time, manually controlled defenders are intercepting slightly more passes.
EA has also noticed greater tactical variety than in FC 26, with players experimenting with different formations and player roles. Formation win rates are currently relatively even, although some setups are more popular in higher divisions. The developer says it will continue monitoring these trends as players develop new tactics and find ways to counter popular formations.
🛠️ Other Gameplay Issues EA Is Investigating
Not every gameplay concern will be addressed in the November update. EA is continuing to investigate several areas that could lead to further adjustments later in the season, including:
- High defensive lines that can put too much pressure on the opposing team.
- Collisions between players with different body sizes and physical attributes.
- The accuracy of certain shot types and goalkeeper positioning.
EA has not announced specific changes for these issues yet, explaining that each area requires further testing because adjustments to one gameplay system can affect others.
