A solo indie developer working under the label Zyg
Studios has announced Rogue Striker, a fast-paced soccer roguelite
currently available to wishlist on Steam. The project comes from developer Antoine Grimond, who began work on the
game after experiencing burnout on a previous project. According to the
announcement, he set himself a one-month challenge to build something
playable ahead of the World Cup season, which ultimately evolved into
Rogue Striker.
Soccer Roguelite with squad building and arcade matches
Rogue Striker blends arcade-style football gameplay with roguelite progression systems. Each run tasks players with drafting footballers, building a squad, and developing synergies between players, stats, and special abilities.
- Draft players and assemble a squad during each run
- Build synergies between stats, skills, and team composition
- Take squad decisions into fast-paced arcade football matches
- Face new opponents, rewards, and branching choices per run
- Progress through a campaign structure aiming for the World Finals
Runs are designed to vary through changing recruits, opponents, and reward options, pushing players to adapt their strategy over time rather than relying on a fixed lineup.
Development background and scope
The game was developed as a solo project under a constrained timeline, originally intended as a one-month experiment. Despite its small scale, the design combines structured team-building mechanics with arcade football matches. Rogue Striker is planned for PC release via Steam, where it is currently available to wishlist. No release date has been announced at this time.
