CBF President Confirms Ongoing Negotiations to Bring Brasileirão and Copa do Brasil to EA FC 27.
Brazilian football fans have received a major boost regarding the future of South American representation in digital sports. Ednaldo Rodrigues, President of the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF), has officially confirmed advanced talks with Electronic Arts (EA) to include the fully licensed Brasileirão Série A and the Copa do Brasil in the upcoming EA Sports FC 27.
For over a decade, the "Pelé Law" in Brazil created a massive roadblock for EA Sports, requiring individual negotiations with every single player. However, Rodrigues highlighted that the current restructuring of league rights—driven by the collaboration between the CBF and the major club blocs (Libra and LFU)—is finally paving the way for a centralized collective bargaining agreement.
"Our goal is to ensure the Brazilian brand is represented at its highest level. We are working closely with EA to bridge the gap and deliver the authenticity our clubs and fans deserve by 2027," Rodrigues stated in a recent interview.
The announcement gained traction after a video surfaced on social media showing Rodrigues discussing the commercial strategy. You can view the clip and the community reaction below:
If the deal is finalized, EA FC 27 will mark the first time since 2014 that the Brazilian league is fully integrated with authentic players on both console and PC versions of the game.
