EA Sports has revealed a new Streamlined SBC system for Football
Ultimate Team in EA Sports FC 27. Instead of building full squads with
chemistry, positions, and overall rating requirements, players will
simply submit eligible Items until they reach a required score.
How It Works
Each Item is worth a score based on its overall rating and rarity. Players can use higher-rated Items, more lower-rated Items, or a mix of both to complete the SBC. The new system also allows duplicate Items to be submitted, making duplicate management much easier.

Partial Progress
Another major addition is partial completion. Players no longer need to finish an SBC in one go—they can submit some Items, save their progress, and return later to complete it.
Traditional SBCs Remain
EA says Streamlined SBCs will be used for most Player and Upgrade SBCs, while traditional squad-building challenges will continue to be available for puzzle-style SBCs. The developer also plans to adjust both formats throughout the year based on player feedback.

The hope is that the new Streamlined SBC system significantly reduces the inventory management friction associated with completing SBCs, especially when it comes to managing duplicate storage and club inventory.
Our current thinking is that most Streamlined SBCs will not have a minimum OVR requirement.
For example, we might release an Upgrade SBC for an Icon guarantee that does not have any specific item requirements, just an overall score requirement.
Yes, you could theoretically choose to submit a higher number of lower-rated items, such as Bronze items, or a lower number of higher-rated items to complete the SBC.
Some Streamlined SBCs will likely still feature a low minimum OVR requirement, such as Min OVR 75, but our current thinking is that most will not include any minimum OVR requirement.
