Match Summary
Match overviewFleetwood Town, a fourth-tier side, produced one of the biggest shocks in League Cup history by eliminating Premier League champions Arsenal 5-3 on penalties after a 1-1 draw at Highbury Stadium. Fulham loanee Aaron Loupalo-Bi gave the hosts a shock lead in the 21st minute, capitalizing on a defensive error from Marli Salmon. Arsenal dominated possession and equalized early in the second half through Viktor GyΓΆkeres, but they were repeatedly denied by goalkeeper Jay Lynch. The match turned when Arsenal's teenage sensation Max Dowman was shown a straight red card in the 85th minute for kicking out in frustration. In the shootout, both sides converted their first three attempts before Lynch saved Bruno GuimarΓ£es' weak effort, allowing Conor Haughey to seal the historic upset.
