eFootball v6.0.0 will arrive on August 13

August 10, 2026

KONAMI has announced the upcoming eFootball v6.0.0 will arrive on August 13, 2026. The new version introduces several major additions, including Custom Tournaments, a new Team Playstyle, increased tactical flexibility, and gameplay changes.

Custom Tournaments

One of the biggest additions in v6.0.0 is the new Custom Tournament feature. Players will be able to create their own tournaments and invite others to participate. The mode will offer several customization options, including the number of participants, match settings, substitutions and restrictions related to the players and cards that can be used.

Overload Becomes the Sixth Team Playstyle

Version 6.0.0 will also introduce Overload, a new Team Playstyle that becomes the sixth tactical option available in eFootball. With Overload activated, players will move toward the side of the pitch where the ball is located, creating numerical superiority. In attack, this can facilitate short passing combinations, while the defensive setup is designed to allow more players to pressure the opponent around the ball.

More Tactical Flexibility

The update will introduce Fluid Formation, enabling players to utilize various formations based on whether their team is attacking or defending. This gives managers more control over how their team behaves during different phases of a match. Players can, for example, move into more advanced positions while attacking and adopt a deeper shape when possession is lost.

New Link-Up Managers and Gameplay Changes

Another major addition is the arrival of managers with two Link-up Plays. These managers will offer new tactical possibilities by allowing two different Link-up Play effects to be activated. The gameplay is also receiving a new finishing option. Players will be able to perform a volleyed shot using the Stunning Shot command while the ball is in mid-air, adding another way to finish aerial opportunities.

Daily Game Gets Reworked

The current Daily Game system will be replaced by Daily Super Play, a new daily mini-game based on scoring from open play. The new system will also feature a different reward structure, including a new pack and Lap rewards.

Other Changes Coming With v6.0.0

  • Step Up Line Objective: A new objective will become available with the start of the new season.
  • Courtesy Rating: The rating will be reset to A following the update.
  • Match History: Existing match history will not carry over to the new version.
  • Unavailable Players and Managers: Players will be able to check which players and managers are affected by licensing and game-data changes.

The eFootball v6.0.0 Season Update will be released on August 13, 2026, following a maintenance period beginning on August 12.

👎Not what we expected

Despite introducing several welcome gameplay features, the presentation is likely to fuel a familiar criticism from the community. Konami once again dedicated much of the showcase to Dream Team content, new player cards, and monetized campaigns, while offering virtually no information about graphical upgrades or a broader visual overhaul. For many players, improving the game's presentation remains just as important as expanding its card collection.

This gameplay clip, shown during Konami's eFootball 6.0 presentation, suggests that the game's visual presentation has seen little noticeable improvement. Player models, lighting, animations, and the overall match presentation appear largely unchanged from previous versions, with no obvious graphical overhaul showcased.
