EA Sports FC 27: First Impressions of Authentic Gameplay 2.0 After Testing the Beta

July 30, 2026

Content creator modocarrera_07 had the opportunity to test the EA Sports FC 27 beta and shared his first impressions of the new Authentic Gameplay 2.0, highlighting changes to match tempo, player differences, and AI behavior. After playing four matches in the beta, the creator explained that the new gameplay reminds him of the early days of FC 26, but with several improvements that make matches feel more balanced and varied.

⚖️ A More Balanced Pace and Clearer Player Differences

According to modocarrera_07, one of the biggest improvements in Authentic Gameplay 2.0 is the overall match pace. He believes the speed of the game feels more balanced, allowing different player profiles to stand out more clearly.

  • Fast players feel more impactful because of their speed.
  • Technical players have more influence when controlling the ball.
  • Strong players maintain a more noticeable physical presence.

He also highlighted that ball control once again plays a bigger role, while the CPU appears to take more time when building attacks and making better use of key players.

🧠Improved AI With Some Remaining Issues

During his testing, modocarrera_07 explained that the Tactical AI setting continues to be the better option compared to Dynamic AI. In this configuration, the CPU makes smarter decisions in both attack and defense, creating clearer differences when facing teams with different styles.

Another noticeable improvement is the defensive behavior of the AI. One of the complaints about FC 26 was that CPU-controlled teams rarely committed fouls or attempted sliding tackles. In the FC 27 beta, the creator noticed that the AI commits more fouls and performs more tackles during matches.

However, some issues remain. Goalkeepers still struggle in one-on-one situations, as they often stay on their line instead of coming out to challenge attackers. He also pointed out that the CPU tends to rely too much on crosses, even in situations where a shot could be a better option.

🎥New Presentation Features and Set Piece Changes

The beta also showcased some presentation changes, including a new interface for viewing the starting lineup and new cinematic scenes featuring legendary players in stadium boxes. During his test, modocarrera_07 spotted David Beckham at the Santiago Bernabéu.

Set pieces also receive a gameplay adjustment, as players can now choose whether to add or remove players inside the box before taking crosses and corners.
