Square Enix has revealed new details about Kingdom Hearts IV,
confirming that the next mainline entry in the long-running action RPG
series is coming to Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S,
and PC. The publisher also unveiled a special logo ahead of the
franchise's 25th anniversary celebration in 2027.
Sora's Next Adventure Begins in Quadratum
Kingdom Hearts IV will continue Sora's story as he journeys through Quadratum, a mysterious city that serves as the backdrop for the next chapter of the series. According to Square Enix, Sora will once again travel to various worlds, encounter new characters, and unlock new powers along the way.
While many details remain under wraps, the announcement suggests that both familiar faces and new figures will play a role in the adventure as the series moves into its next major storyline.
Launching Across Current-Generation Platforms
One of the biggest announcements is the game's platform lineup. Square Enix confirmed that Kingdom Hearts IV will launch on:
- Nintendo Switch 2
- PlayStation 5
- Xbox Series X|S
- PC
The inclusion of Nintendo Switch 2 is particularly notable, placing the highly anticipated RPG on every major current-generation gaming platform and giving fans multiple ways to jump into Sora's next adventure.
A Milestone Anniversary for the Series
Alongside the platform confirmation, Square Enix revealed a special Kingdom Hearts 25th anniversary logo. The franchise will celebrate the milestone in 2027, marking a quarter-century since the series first began.
Although the company has not announced any additional anniversary plans, the new logo signals that celebrations for the landmark occasion are already taking shape.
More Information Will Be Revealed Later
Square Enix has yet to announce a release date and remains quiet about many of the game's key details, including the worlds players will visit and the new abilities Sora will gain during his journey.
For now, the publisher says more information will be shared in the future. With Quadratum returning to the spotlight and a release planned across Nintendo Switch 2, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, Kingdom Hearts IV remains one of the most closely watched projects on Square Enix's upcoming lineup.
