🌍 48-Team Tournament and Licensed National Teams
EA Sports confirmed that The World’s Game mode launching on 4 June will feature a full 48-team standalone international tournament structure inspired by the upcoming World Cup format. Players will compete through three group stage matches, with the top two teams from each group advancing alongside the eight best third-placed nations before entering the knockout rounds starting from the Round of 32.
The mode will include dozens of fully licensed national teams such as Argentina, Brazil, England, France, Germany, Spain, Portugal, Uruguay, Mexico, and the United States, among many others. EA also noted that Bosnia & Herzegovina and Congo DR will initially use generic kits, with authentic uniforms planned for a future update.
The updated team selection screen organizes nations into Groups A through L while displaying team ratings and tournament progression details to recreate the atmosphere of a real international competition.

⚙️ Major Gameplay Balance Changes Confirmed
EA Sports has detailed several important gameplay balancing adjustments coming with The World’s Game Update, focusing on PlayStyles, defensive pressure mechanics, and physical duels after extensive community feedback.
💪 Bruiser PlayStyle Rebalanced
Following complaints that shoulder challenges felt too powerful, EA confirmed that the Bruiser and Bruiser+ PlayStyles have been adjusted to create fairer physical battles between defenders and dribblers.
The update slightly reduces the shoulder challenge boost provided by Bruiser while also giving players with Enforcer or Enforcer+ improved resistance during physical duels.
EA also improved collision realism so challenge outcomes now depend more naturally on Strength ratings and PlayStyle advantages. Stronger defenders can still overpower weaker attackers, but agile dribblers now have a better chance to recover possession after contact.
Additional improvements were made to prevent unrealistic shoulder tackles from behind, while a visual issue related to the Bruiser+ icon was also fixed.
🛡️ Intercept PlayStyle Expanded
EA Sports also updated the Intercept PlayStyle to make defensive attributes more important overall. Players without the Intercept PlayStyle but with 90+ Interceptions ratings will now be able to access similar interception animations previously exclusive to the PlayStyle itself.
According to EA, the goal is to preserve the value of PlayStyles while allowing elite defensive stats to feel more impactful during gameplay.
📉 Team Press Nerfed After Community Feedback
One of the biggest gameplay adjustments targets the heavily used Team Press tactic. EA confirmed that AI defenders will apply less aggressive pressure in defensive areas of the pitch in order to encourage more tactical variety.
AI teammates will no longer constantly double-team the ball carrier when the user is already controlling a nearby defender, and defensive marking will become less intense as attackers move closer to goal.
However, Team Press will remain highly aggressive in the attacking half, where AI defenders will continue applying strong pressure and contextual double-teams similar to the current system.
