GTA 6 Could Be Playable on PC at Launch Through Xbox Cloud Streaming

October 07, 2026

PC players could have a way to play Grand Theft Auto 6 at launch without waiting for a native PC version. Xbox has reportedly secured exclusive cloud streaming rights for the game, allowing it to be played through Xbox's cloud service on PC.

According to The Verge, the agreement is expected to begin with GTA 6's November release, although its duration remains unclear. Xbox Cloud Gaming is available on PC, smart TVs and mobile devices, meaning players would not need an Xbox console to access the game through streaming.

💻A potential alternative to waiting for the PC version

If the reported deal goes ahead, PC players could stream GTA 6 through Xbox rather than waiting for Rockstar to release a native PC port. The streaming version would not offer the performance options, mod support, and other features typically associated with a dedicated PC release. Microsoft is also expected to introduce pay-as-you-go cloud streaming plans in November, which could allow players without a console or Game Pass subscription to pay for timed access to GTA 6 through the service.

❌GTA 6 still has no announced native PC version

Rockstar has not announced a native PC release for GTA 6. The game is scheduled to launch on November 19, 2026. The reported Xbox agreement would therefore give PC players a potential way to experience the game through cloud streaming at launch, rather than providing the dedicated PC version many players are waiting for.

☁️Cloud Gaming on PC

Cloud gaming allows PC players to stream games directly through services such as Xbox Cloud Gaming, without downloading or installing them locally. The game runs on Microsoft's remote servers, while the video and audio are streamed to the PC and player inputs are sent back to the server in real time. Xbox Cloud Gaming currently requires an active Game Pass Ultimate subscription for cloud gaming, along with a compatible controller and a stable internet connection. This allows players to access supported games even on PCs that would otherwise struggle to run them locally.
