Konami has revealed a major change coming to eFootball with the v6.1.0 update, introducing new Select Skill Tokens and Select Position Tokens that will give players direct control over certain aspects of player development.
🎯 Choose the Skill You Want
The upcoming v6.1.0 update will introduce Select Skill Tokens, a new item designed to give players more control when adding skills to their players. Players will be able to spend 100 Select Skill Tokens to train a player in the skill of their choice. This means that, instead of relying on an unspecified skill outcome, the new system allows players to target the exact skill they want.
📍 Select a Position
Konami is also adding Select Position Tokens. These tokens will allow players to choose a specific position for which they want to improve a player's Position Proficiency. As with Select Skill Tokens, 100 Select Position Tokens will be required to train a player in the selected position.
🔄 Advanced Skill Tokens Are Being Removed
The arrival of the new system will also see Advanced Skill Tokens removed from eFootball. During the v6.1.0 update, every Advanced Skill Token currently in a player's account will automatically be converted into 20 Select Skill Tokens. Konami has also issued an important reminder: players who want to use their existing Advanced Skill Tokens should do so before the v6.1.0 update takes place.
🧩 More Control Over Player Development
The new system changes how players can approach skill and position development. Select Skill Tokens will allow users to target a specific skill, while Select Position Tokens will let them choose the exact Position Proficiency they want to train. With both systems requiring 100 tokens for a selected upgrade, players will have a clearer path toward developing their squads around specific requirements.
📅 Coming in October
The new items will arrive with the eFootball v6.1.0 update, which Konami currently plans to release in October 2026. The update will be available across all supported devices.
