007 First Light Path Tracing Update Explains PC Requirements for RTX GPUs

007 First Light has received its Path Tracing and DLSS Ray Reconstruction update on PC, and NVIDIA has explained the hardware requirements for running the game with its most demanding graphical features enabled.

Performance is where 007 First Light’s Path Tracing update becomes disappointing. According to testing by Grisp, an RTX 5070 manages just 24–25 FPS at 1080p native with Medium Path Tracing, dropping from around 95 FPS with the feature disabled. Even an RTX 5080 struggles to deliver more than 20 FPS at 1440p native, while the RTX 5090 reaches only 21 FPS at 4K native with High Path Tracing. Achieving a playable experience requires aggressive DLSS upscaling and Frame Generation, with the RTX 5090 needing Performance DLSS and 6x Frame Generation to reach the advertised 200+ FPS target. While the improved lighting looks impressive, the enormous performance hit and reliance on upscaling make the implementation difficult to justify, especially when the game runs at well over 100 FPS without Path Tracing.


💻Path Tracing PC Requirements Explained

The newly detailed specifications cover three different Path Tracing configurations. The minimum setup targets 1080p at 60 FPS, the recommended configuration targets 1440p at 60 FPS, and the Ultra preset targets 4K at 200+ FPS with DLSS 4.5.

💻RTX 5070, RTX 5080 and RTX 5090 Requirements

The minimum Path Tracing configuration requires an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 with 12GB of VRAM, paired with an Intel Core i5-13500 or AMD Ryzen 5 7600 and 16GB of RAM. The recommended configuration raises the GPU requirement to an RTX 5080 with 16GB of VRAM for 1440p at 60 FPS. Meanwhile, the Ultra preset lists an RTX 5090 with 32GB of VRAM, alongside a Core i5-13600K or Ryzen 7 7700X and 32GB of RAM.




💻DLSS 4.5 and NVIDIA Game Ready Driver 616.92

NVIDIA’s GeForce Game Ready Driver 616.92, released on September 9, added support for the upcoming 007 First Light Path Tracing update. The update itself went live on September 15, adding Path Tracing and DLSS 4.5 Ray Reconstruction to the game.

Path Tracing brings more detailed lighting, shadows and reflections, while DLSS Ray Reconstruction helps improve image quality when using the technology. The game also supports DLSS 4.5 Super Resolution and Dynamic Multi Frame Generation.

💻What About the Standard PC Requirements?

The standard PC specifications remain lower than the dedicated Path Tracing requirements. The Enthusiast preset targets 1440p at 60 FPS with an RTX 4070, while the Ultra preset targets 4K at 60 FPS with an RTX 4080.
007 First Light is already available on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. The Path Tracing update is now available on PC, giving GeForce RTX users access to the game's enhanced lighting and reflections.
