Take-Two ( Rockstar Parent ) CEO said that he believes that the extraordinary quality of the next-gen games justifies their price rise from 60 to 70 USD. He believes this is just a modest price change.
"There hasn’t been a price increase for frontline titles for a really long time, despite the fact that it costs a great deal more to make those titles,” Strauss Zelnick told GamesIndustry.biz. "We think with the value we offer consumers and the kind of experience you can really only have on these next-generation consoles, that the price is justified".
Anyway, not all publishers have decided to raise their next-gen games price. Ubisoft promised in July that their first next-gen games won´t cost more than current-gen ones.
2K already announced that there will be a 10 USD gap between current-gen and next-gen consoles games.
