IGN take a first look at Nvidia's new Android-powered gaming handheld. The Nvidia Shield is a handheld game console by Nvidia released on 31 July 2013. The Shield is a handheld console running on Android OS, featuring a flip-up 5-inch (130 mm) touchscreen display with 1280x720 pixel resolution. The device is similar in form to a Xbox 360 controller, with two analog joysticks, a D-pad, and other buttons.
Reception for the Shield has been mixed. IGN's Scott Lowe rated the Shield a 6.8/10, noting the "impractical cost and a scarcity of compelling games".Engadget's review noted the system's "extremely impressive PC gaming", but also that "At $300, NVIDIA Shield is a hard sell as a portable game console", especially when compared to similar handhelds on the market.
