Framerate issues

October 07, 2009

Users are repoting framerate issues in some stadiums with broadcast cam when playing NBA 2K10. Ronnie from 2K Sports suggested to turn off Key Zoom (it's in the default camera). This will address the framerate issues drastically. There is simply way too much going on for your game engine to handle. With the players, dynamic crowd, lighting, and everything else on the screen, the game or 360 hardware simply can't process everything at a smooth 60 FPS. It's like trying to run 10 programs on a computer from the 90's. Not happening. Anyway users have been posting some tips to workaround this issue. Click on Read More to check them out.

TIP 1

Broadcast Cam
Zoom 10
Height 6
Key zoom Off
(ala Pared Much respect!)

This has been tested in the worst stadiums and WORKS..well to a certain extent

TIP 2

1. You could get rid of the different or "cinematic angles" during the first FT. I'd rather be able to shoot a FT with the same camera angle I'm using for both shots anyways. In the very least, this would bring consistency for any lag still present. But the second FT does not have lag EVER and this view is in the 2k angle.

2. The crowd animations are probably the root problem. I know people like the crowd dynamics and the same guy constantly walking the aisles, but unfortunately I think you need less going on in the ccrowd and taking up "bandwidth" so to speak to have a better game. I would ask the developers how memory or performance the crowd constantly walking up and down the aisles is taking. I love the presentation. Don't get me wrong, but presentation isn't worth it when it's dragging down actual game-play. I think you need to fix this issue even if it comes at the expense of reducing some of this dynamic presentation
